HOTELS

AMERICAN HOUSE 1800'S
1800
This hotel was built by Henry Melhouse in 1874 to acommadate the overflow of visitors to the Phila. 1876 centennial. it survived until a few years ago when it was destroyed by fire.

BOTTONWOOD HOTEL
1850
Hotel which stood on the N.E> Cor. of High & Washington Sts.

COMMERICAL HOTEL
1890
This hotel was built as the Madison Hotel in 1860 and became the Commerical in the 1890's. Was razed in the 1940's.

EAST END HOTEL
1880
Built in late 1700's. First known as the Blind Tavern. It was razed in 1902 and the property divided into building lots.

FARMERS' HOTEL
1860'S
This hotel was built in the 1700's and in the 1880's was enlarged as the Shuler House, a very popular eating place. It was razed in the 1970's.
